WE HAVE A REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY

There is consensus among key leaders who believe that we are nearing the end of the American Experience and our constitutional form of government. They fear that a democracy ‘Of By and For The People’ is about to fail under the heel of authoritarianism. They acknowledge that a large percentage of the American voting population feels that our present form of government has failed them. If it has failed them, it is because they don’t know how to get what they need in a representative democracy.

Too many citizens are not aware of how our government works; that voters can decide the issues that most affect their lives. As a result, they are easily led to believe that grifters have a better way. Representative democracy only works if those elected to represent us are directed by us.

Frustrated, many blame the President instead of the elected congressional representatives who are not representing them. As a result, some people are looking for a savior who will take care of them. There ain’t no such thing.

Authoritarians tell us that if we give them power, they will take care of us. To follow that line of reasoning is a form of mass stupidity.

Citizens who understand how a representative democracy works, educate themselves about the issues, and vote for those who will advocate for their concerns and represent them. This is true on the community, state and federal level. That is the miracle of our form of government!

Since the early 1990s, many public and private schools have failed to teach Civics (American Government). A small but powerful group who think of themselves as Libertarians, have worked to destroy a government that serves the people, and not their rape-rip-and-run mentalities.
